Art needs to evoke a response in the viewer and deliver a passion from the artist.
In my wirework, it is the flow, the curve, the malleability of the wire that is so enticing to play with.
The basic underlying structure is very important to the final outcome and just like a drawing develops, so does a wire sculpture – by adding layers, creating texture, filling spaces with something unexpected.
Taking something as industrial and functional as wire, and breathing life into it is a wonderful process – hence the giving of attitude and personality to my birds.
My goal: to tempt a smile, to stir a memory, to make a connection.
