As a child Julie received a small pink First Nations basket that she used
to hold her treasures. Now, as she weaves her baskets, she imagines what
items they will hold.
After taking a basic course in basket-making, Julie's appreciation for
the craft solidified. She attended several courses at the Haliburton School
of the Arts, focusing on basketry. As a member of the Southwestern Ontario
Basket Guild, she has continued to develop her skills as a basket-maker
and weaver experimenting with form, colour and texture through the use
of reed, grasses, vines, yarns, fabrics, and other materials.
