Following a basic bead-weaving course, Fiona has continued to develop her own style, incorporating healing stones/crystals into her work. Each piece is needle & thread woven.
From the dawn of time, beads (teeth, talons, bones to glass, crystal and gems) have been used by all civilizations either for protection, religious rites (each had a sacred meaning and all are believed to have healing properties); as a trading commodity or coveted as a fashion accessory for adornment and sheer enjoyment.
Vintage beadwork can be seen in museums worldwide and whether delicate and intricate or woven-primitive, is considered a treasured collectible, highly sought after.
As wearable art, the beauty of hand-woven beadwork reflects a unique and stylish fashion statement.
